stOne of the new locations to the CSA this year, it‘s been an absolute pleasure to get to know the crew at Saccomanno‘s Pasta, Pizza & Deli. This isn‘t only because they‘re an amazing family but also because we have been enjoying some of the finest freshly made pasta and cheesy delicious pizza in town!

The Saccomanno family first opened shop in 1965 on 95st but after years of success, they had outgrown their space and in the late 70s they moved to their current location on 127ave (just west of 97St). Here they could spread out into a sprawling kitchen where the smell of freshly baked bread pours through the shop. There are very few things as irresistible as the smell of freshly baked bread. Trust me, that‘s why you see some of Edmonton‘s greatest bakeries on our locations list (Prairie Mill Bread Co & Bon Ton Bakery).

While Saccomanno Sr. is still behind all that fresh baked bread and most of the lunch and supper dishes prepared in the old fashioned Italian way, grandson Francesco has stepped in to help run things and manage their considerable catering business.

Two thirds of the shop is a great cafeteria style lunch space offering a variety of mouthwatering dishes: cheesy, hot from the oven pizza, oozing saucy manicotti, tender chicken or veal parmesan, mix and match pasta with their homemade sauce (which Francesco makes by hand each fall), to name a few. The other third is a classic Italian deli/grocery where you can shop for beautiful olive oils, all kinds of deli meats and cheeses (including spicy Italian sausage made in house), cans of imported Italian sauces and spices and of course, fresh pastas and pizza dough made by hand daily.
